Paulo Simoes releases another fullscreen in 2004!

December 1, 2004 by Brume

News illustration image After the 16x16 sprites attempt, Paulo Simoes is just coming to publish a new demo. It features 70 balls that are displayed in fullscreen with a nice module of... 8 voices!
The mod is replayed at 15.65 KHz. The Oktalyzer music was remixed by the crew Tranquilizer back in 1996. For emulators users, please run the demo under SainT 1.80 or 1.85. The current version of Steem doesn't yet replay the music correctly.
The result may look oldschool, but it's a great screen we'd like to see more often.

Feel free to download the Panic Demo by Paulo Simoes now.

The final 3 Grazey Zak Hacks disks released

November 29, 2004 by Grazey

News illustration image 1990-1 was the year when I released my first music rip disk on the ST (GZH #1). 14 years later the series concludes with disks 37, 38 and 39. The most striking thing about this release is the definitive Mad Max collection (459 tunes)... now also nicely linked (e.g. 29 Turrican 2 tunes in one SNDH file) and Falcon/CT60(!) compatible.

On disk 39 you'll find my full SNDH list... I never realised I'd converted so many tunes... 2264 SNDH files equating to 4855 tunes.

Pasti DLL v0.2e for emulators

November 24, 2004 by Brume

News illustration image Yesterday a new version of SainT with Pasti support was published. Today the Pasti DLL reaches the version 0.2e (still beta release). Remember Pasti allows to run protected games and demos. The Pasti images have .stx extension. At the moment, just a few images are available but no doubt the collection of .STX files will grow once the Pasti-imager will be released officially.

The author Ijor wrote:
A new version of Pasti Dll has been released. Version 0.2e integrates a couple of bug fixes. One of them is important for running certain images under Saint.

Just Download the new Pasti DLL, uncompress it and put it in the directory of SainT or Steem.

SainT v1.85 with Pasti support

November 23, 2004 by Brume

News illustration image The new version of SainT supports now the Pasti images (=images of protected disks). Here are the latest changes:

- Beta PASTI disk image support! Run original Union-Demo! (Get the PASTI.DLL at http://pasti.fxatari.com)
- Bug fix in directory files treeview (sometimes folders appaired dupplicated)
- Beta prefetching code rewritten. Some demos/games are now working (Union demo, original Xenon2), and some demos may crash with that version. (ex FlashBack by TCB)

Get now the latest version of SainT the Pasti DLL and just test it!

More games on the site

November 23, 2004 by Brume

News illustration image Since we have recently obtained the agreement of editors such as Generation 5 and Myriad, we have uploaded more games on the site. We still try to contact editors, authors and publishers, so we all expect for more downloads in the next weeks.

Also thanks to kind answers we received from people of Generation 5, Myriad, Lankhor, Carraz, etc. We really appreciate your help and your agreement. Keep the oldies alive!

Random review

The adventure game market of the late eighties was saturated with, dull second rate entertainment. This was quickly exploited by companies like Lucasfilm (later changed its name to LucasArts), whose introduction of a mouse driven 'point and click' system- soon saw the demise of old fashioned adventuring altogether.

Did you know?

"So we went to Atari and said, 'Hey, we've got this amazing thing, even built with some of your parts, and what do you think about funding us? Or we'll give it to you. We just want to do it. Pay our salary, we'll come work for you.' And they said, 'No.' So then we went to Hewlett-Packard, and they said, 'Hey, we don't need you. You haven't got through college yet.'" -- Apple Computer Inc. founder Steve Jobs, on attempts to get Atari and HP interested in his and Steve Wozniak's personal computer
