Xenon
November 15, 2002 by ST Graveyard
By the time of its release in 1988, the ST already had a great shoot 'em up, "Goldrunner". But Xenon was something completely different, adding more variety to the genre. And even though this piece of gaming software is almost 15 years old, it can easily be considered among the best of its type! When you load up the game you soon notice why this release stormed up the UK game Top 40 at the time! Read the review of Xenon

The Bitmap Brothers made many fine games. However, to me this was their greatest achievement. From the futuristic metallic gfx, to the digitised face and sampled voice which announced the start of a level - this game truely had the lot.
The only complaint I have is that after level one the game becomes far too difficult. Far, far, far too difficult.
Verdict: as vertical shooters its quite possible this was never bettered. A true Legend.

My alltime favourite in scrolling shoot'em up games. Sampling the Bitmap Brothers at their best! Although technically not the most advanced, a very playable and enjoyable ST game with cool metallic looking graphics.
A real ST classic IMHO
