Desktop Configurator by Paradize released

November 22, 2005 by simonsunnyboy

News illustration image The Desktop Configurator has been released.

A small utility which allows you to select one of up to 10 individual DESKTOP.INF (or NEWDESK.INF) files from the AUTO folder of your harddisc so you can boot into a customtailored desktop, e.q. one for games, one for coding, one for tools,etc..

Check http://paradize.atari.org/

This tool only manages selection of the DESKTOP.INF and nothing more.
Most AUTO folder and DESKTOP.INF management tools offered too many unneeded features for me so I wrote this one. If it is of any use, feel free.

Alive 11 released

November 20, 2005 by Silver Surfer

News illustration image Finally Alive 11 is released. It features music by GwEm, Crazy Q / DHS and Marcer / Atari Legend / Elite. Like most of the times the stunning title picture was done by C-Rem/MJJ-Prod. Menu Graphics by Cyclone/X-Troll.

Alive comes bundled with a few releases again:

* Wolfenstein 3D by Ray / tSCc
* Alive Kolour Tagger (Debuged Version) by GGN / KÜA Software Productions
* Circle Fade Bootsector Sourcecode by GGN / KÜA Software Productions
* Overscan Sourcecodes by Alien / ST Connexion

Like always you can find these treasures (except for Wolfenstein 3D, which is simply too big) within the FILEZ folder of the disk, check it out!

It seems Wolfenstein 3D has some trouble with HD-Driver and Huschi, but it seems to work fine with the ICD Harddisk-Driver. Until Ray comes up with a fix to that problem I recommend using a RAMdisk to play it.

News nicked from the Alive website!

DBug 186 and ULS born

October 31, 2005 by Showaddywaddy

News illustration image Finally D-Bug makes a new release. A departure from the normal menus in that there are no hacked games on the disk! That's because we're very proud to introduce D-Bug U.L.S. In a nut shell ULS allows you to run practically any D-Bug / Automation / BBC game crack on your hard drive. So you benefit from faster loading, hi-scores saved to your hard disk and for MegaSTe owners, the ability to play many games in 16mhz and therefore super speed (try Harlequin for example!). On menu 186 we bring you HD installers for :-

Leaving Teramis (Automation 262)
Harlequin (D-Bug 39)
James Pond 2 - Codename Robocod (D-Bug 15a)
Moonshine Racers (BBC 47 a/b)
Resolution 101 (Automation 293)
Robocop 2 (BBC 32)
Speedball 2 (BBC 36)
Streetfighter 2 (D-Bug 100 a/b/c/d/e)
The Untouchables (Automation 223)
Wizkid (D-Bug 80)

Enjoy. Shw & CJ

Random review

Nintendo had "Mario", Sega had "Sonic", why couldn't we have such quality platformers for the ST? Well, we had...The Bitmap Brothers made some great games ("Gods", "Magic Pockets"Smiley but that was about it. Until in 1992, Graftgold released "Fire and Ice".
