He helped to create 2 of the most iconic games during the final years of the ST's lifespan, Obsession and Substation. Tord was a member of UDS from the very beginning, up until its demise. In 1980, Sir Clive Sinclair released the cheapest homecomputer ever made, the ZX80. Mr Sinclair was on a mission. He wanted to teach a generation how to program a computer. And it was a success. Nick Harper is a prime example. He started out on the ZX Spectrum, went on the create one of the best STOS games on the Atari ST and today he is a successful game developer who has worked for several big companies like Sony and Ubisoft, with numerous triple A titles on his resumé.

A few weeks ago, I finally received a very rare menu for the Stonish website: Mad Vision menu #Z. I have been looking for this menu for 15 years, but I must admit I was a bit disappointed since it didn't look as good as the other menu-disks made by Mad Vision. The question remained: Was this menu an authentic one or a fake? I didn't have any contact with old Mad Vision members, only C-Rem, who joined the crew at the end of its lifecycle (long after Mad Vision stopped making menu-disks). With the help of Maartau (Atari Legend) and Orion (Replicants), we managed to trace one of the group's co-founders: Def KLF. He kindly replied to my questions about Mad Vison #Z: even though he didn't remember how it looked, he said this one was probably a fake. But well, I couldn't just leave it with that. This opportunity was perfect to ask him some other questions about Mad Vision. The crew was famous for its menus and cracktros, but also for its diskmags (Amazine) and demos. The first time I heard of Mad Vision was early in 1992, just when they released the great Massive Attack. So it was time to ask Def KLF more details about the team, from its creation to its demise.

About 2 years ago, while I was busy working on this new version of Atari Legend, Alan Garrison Tomkins all of a sudden became a member of the Atari ST group on Facebook. I had never heard of him before, but the amount of historical info he was sharing regarding the ST game scene, was simply staggering. Alan was a pixelartist at the peak of the 16bit era and has worked for Probe, Mirrorsoft and later on for Eidos (working on the first model of Tomb Raider's Lara Croft!) and other companies. At that moment I knew I had to do something with all of this and I asked him if he would be up for an interview when the new site would be ready. Little did I know that would take another 2 years.
